The Business

'The Merchant of Hoghton' food producers' market held in the Great Barn has over 50 stall holders. Featured on Radio 4’s 'The Food Programme' as the county’s largest local producers' market and a fantastic showcase for Lancashire produce. Visitors travel from all over the North of England to sample and purchase the produce and to enjoy the impromptu picnics on the Tilting Green in front of the Tower.

This is a personal favourite of mine, great layout, nice venue and atmosphere, and a good variety of stall holders, including: Primrose Produce (fresh soups), Leagram Organic Cheese, Capra Products (goats cheese and meat), J & R Holt (quality home bred lamb), Savin Hill Farm, (fresh farm reared meat), Park Farm (baking & puddings), Auldene Wild Venison, Spout House Farm (quality home bred beef & lamb), Wilsons Fruit Wines, Williams Butter, Choco-Lori (handmade chocolates), Pots n Pies, P.D.Willacy (free range poultyr products), RS Ireland Black Pudding, Pimlott's Fresh Vegetable & Eggs, Port of Lancaster Smokehouse, Weatheroak Ostrich Farm (ostrich, veal, venison, etc), Growing with Nature (organic veg), The Long Causeway Trading Co (sweet & savoury tarts, artisan bread, preserves), Park Farm Shop (homemade cakes and pies), Nonna Theresa (homemade italian pasta and sauces), Parkers Preserves, Oliviccio (mediterranean foods), Mr Fitzpatricks (cordials), Artisan bread company, High Seas Seafoods, Shaw Meats (fresh pork, beef, rabbit, cumbrian salamis and chorizo), Exchange Coffee Co, Bowland Beer, Grub (handmade pates), Cheshire Apple Juice
