The Business

Delicious and tender, salt marsh lamb has a unique flavour all of its own.

Free to graze on the salt washed grasses and herbs of Morecambe Bay, the lambs feed on a mixture of samphire, sparta grass, sorrel, sea lavender and thrift. These help to give the lamb a deliciously light flavour with the tenderest texture.

The Archer family have been rearing salt marsh lamb at Red Bank Farm since the 1940's, and they're raised with the highest level of welfare to organic standards set by the Soil Association.

The lamb is only available seasonally, from May to October. You can buy it direct from the farm at Archer's Cafe, either as individual joints or cuts of meat or, for real value, why not take a half or full lamb?

Note: Please pre-order half or full lamb packs.

More evidence of the care that the Archer famiy put into their farming comes from the organic milk they produce. From their small herd of 35 cows, they have won numerous awards for both cleanliness and quality.

Opening Times: Tuesday to Sunday, 9.30am - 4.00pm

Great lunch in Archers Cafe followed by walk. Rack of salt marsh lamb for tea! Would've taken a pic but it wasn't there long enough! Most tender and tasty lamb I've had to date!

It's got to be the tenderest lamb I've ever tasted, amazing flavour and so succulent - definitely a regular on my list from now on.
