Lancashire Farm Shops

If you're looking for tasty, fresh and seasonal produce, Lancashire farm shops are great places to find it.

There are some magnificent farm shops in and around Lancashire. Here's a selection to choose from with a quick rundown of what they offer and a link to their main profile on this website.

Spout House Farm Shop

Where: Higher Wheelton, Chorley
Opening Times: Friday 11am - 5pm, Saturday 10am - 4pm, Sunday 11am - 4pm

The shop at Spout House Farm has a great stock of own reared beef and lamb, excellent quality and value, the majority of it at much lower prices than the supermarkets. Locally reared rare-breed pork, a choice of fresh vegetables, Uncle Bob's ice cream, local preserves and honey. They also have a lovely selection of locally sourced, homemade cakes.

Diglake Farm Shop

Where: Scarisbrick, near Ormskirk
Opening Times: 7 days a week from 9.00am - 5.00pm

Diglake farm shop is full of locally grown, fresh, seasonal produce and with much of it coming from Diglake Farm itself. On the occasions I've visited they've had vegetables picked fresh that day (you don't get that in many supermarkets). The farm has been in the Vose family for many years and the owner, Paul, is very passionate about the quality of his produce.

The shop also stocks award winning sausage and bacon, supplied by a nearby butcher, as well as Lancashire cheeses, preserves and chutney, local honey, Cheshire Farms ice cream and delicious cakes and biscuits. More info

Toogood Farm Shop

Where: Wrightington, Wigan
Opening Times: Monday - Saturday, 8am - 6pm

An Aladdins cave of local food loveliness.

Selling their own reared beef (minimum 21 day matured) and rare breed pork, as well as locally reared lamb, add to this an enormous range of fresh fruit and veg, plus a stock of other ingredients too many to mention and you can see why it's called Toogood Farm Shop.

Huntleys of Samlesbury

Where: Samlesbury, Near Preston
Opening Times: Monday - Friday, 8.30am - 7pm - Sunday & Bank Hols, 10am - 5pm

What Huntleys don't do that isn't local would be much easier to list than all of the fantastic range they do do. Easiest way is to visit and see for yourself.

Archers Cafe & Farm Shop

Where: Bolton Le Sands, near Carnforth
Opening Times: Tuesday to Sunday, 9.30am - 4.00pm

Not a farm shop particularly, more a delightful cafe with delicious homemade produce, but the Archers cafe also holds a lovely stock of fresh, organic salt marsh lamb. Reared by the Archer family on the sea shore at Red Bank Farm, the lamb is excellent value and priced similar to standard, supermarket lamb. Most definitely worth a visit!! Details here

Grazing Cow Farm Shop

Where: Galgate, near Lancaster
Opening Times: 24 hours (Kiosk opposite the farm with honesty box)

Supplying fresh farm milk and free-range eggs, the 24 kiosk is a popular stop off for locals and passers-by alike. The milk is produced by cows that are free to roam and graze on grass, unlike the majority of indoor herds. This gives the milk a wonderful taste, rarely experienced with the majority of supermarket milk. More
